A hernia (from lat. Hernia) is a disease, which means the emergence of an organ (most often, the intestine) under the skin from a cavity that is in normal working condition, through an existing or formed hole in the course of pathology.
Distinguish hernias: abdomen (hernia of the abdominal cavity); cerebral; muscle; pulmonary; other. A hernia can occur in both men and women, regardless of age. It is not difficult to recognize a hernia: usually in the groin area, under the skin, swelling forms, changing in size, and disappearing when lying down. A hernia by itself will not go away, when it appears, it is recommended to consult a doctor as soon as possible, only an operation can help in this case.
Many do not take this disease seriously, but you should not take your health so lightly. Let's try to figure out such issues as, for example, from what a hernia can actually occur and how it is treated.
Infringement of the small intestine: 1 - leading segment; 2 - outlet segment; 3 - place of infringement; 4 - the site of intestinal perforation.

The hernia is not dangerous to health. This is a deep misconception. In the case when the hernia can still be put into place, then this, indeed, will not greatly affect health. But, if only her infringement occurs (as a result of heavy lifting, severe coughing, and other signs), then, if timely assistance is not provided, a person may die. Infringement is dangerous because blood ceases to enter the constricted organ, which causes tissue necrosis and rupture of the walls.

A hernia can be removed with a bandage. Complete absurdity. It should be understood for yourself once and for all - only surgical intervention can remove a hernia! A bandage can only help prevent infringement. But there are cases when the operation is impossible. This: when a hernia occurs in a pregnant woman or in an elderly person who cannot undergo surgery. In these cases, it is recommended to wear a bandage. However, it cannot be taken for a long time, as this can cause an increase in the hernia or lead to its injury.

If you do special gymnastics, then there will be no hernia. No gymnastics will save you from a hernia, because exercises strengthen only muscles, and a hernia occurs as a result of weak connective tissues.

Even after surgery, the hernia may recur. Perhaps it was before. The operation implied stitching the edges of the hernial orifice, which did not save from a second "breakthrough". Today, the "tension-free" technique is practiced, which is the application of a "patch" (mesh implant) to the hernial orifice. This method is especially used in the treatment of inguinal hernias. Thanks to this type of treatment, the fact of the recurrence of a hernia is practically equated to zero. Plus, recovery after such an operation is very quick and less painful for the patient.

A mesh implant placed during surgery may not “take root” in the body. This is not true. It is made of a special polymer thread, which the body's immune system takes "for its own," which contributes to the smooth implantation of the implant into the connective tissue, and therefore makes it a part of the human body.

Men have problems with potency after an operation to remove an inguinal hernia. Nothing like this. This operation does not in any way affect potency. However, like spinal anesthesia, known as a pain reliever, which is used during surgery.

After surgery to remove a hernia, a large scar remains on the body. This is far from the truth. In fact, the length of the scar does not exceed five centimeters, but it is done in the groin area. The wound itself is sutured with special cosmetic threads and has a cosmetic suture, as a result of which, after some time, the scar is practically invisible.

A person who has survived a hernia operation will not be able to play sports for at least six months. If the operation was done by a "tension-free" method, then after two weeks the person will be quite able to wash the floors at home and even run. In two months, the former patient will be able to visit the gym without hindrance, and in six months he will have the opportunity to do whatever he wants.
